SCV Mayors Committee Breakfast March 2026: Redefining Workforce Potential
The Santa Clarita Valley Mayor’s Committee continued its tradition of bringing together employers, community partners, and advocates in support of inclusive employment at its Spring 2026 Brunch. Returning to the Dr. Dianne G.Van Hook University Center, the event drew an impressive turnout, reflecting growing enthusiasm for the mission of employing individuals with disabilities. Attendees heard from Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste and a dynamic lineup of speakers whose insights and personal stories resonated deeply. The program concluded with a recognition ceremony honoring the speakers, leaving many attendees motivated to further advance inclusive hiring efforts.
Over 100 members of the SCV business community attended the Mayor’s Committee Breakfast on March 26, 2026 honoring National Disability Awareness Month. This presentation/learning breakfast celebrated the talents of individuals with developmental disabilities along with the economic impact of inclusive hiring. Community speakers – (SCV Mayor Laurene West, Mariela Linares, Founder of Mariela’s Creative Studio, Jimmy Lifton and Elisabeth White fromWorldwide Starship, Kyle Schaaf from Grocery Outlet and Jenny Lane from Starbucks) shared their success stories and how these hires are strengthening local companies through reliability, productivity and unique perspective. The presentations were all quite moving and impactful – some who had their employees present who speak about their own experiences. “Redefining Workforce Potential” – is literally – the “why”. In a time where businesses are finding it hard to fill positions and experiencing issues with retention – these breakfasts held twice each year offer an opportunity to learn and open the door to finding dedicated long-term employees while boosting staff morale and overall culture.
